In regard to my post on 7/17 entitled “Listen my sisters…” I received a response that agreed with my ideas only insofar as women = evil.
Don’t be surprised at this attitude – it’s an integral part of the present patriarchal world-view, and as such is absorbed by children as they absorb their culture. So he is not alone in thinking this way.
I would propose that this world-view is inherently child abuse, and is the root cause of the neurosis of poor self-image that many women suffer from. It is harmful to men as well - leading to unhealthy ego-inflation, and all its associated behavior problems.
But back to the women=evil point our friend raised. Let’s explore the concepts of ‘good’ and ‘evil’.
If you were to read my prior post mentioned above regarding the dual nature of the universe, you will note that I did not mention ‘good v. evil’. The reason for this is that the universe is intrinsically good. That is, the universe is. It exists, and its infinite continuity is maintained by a dynamic balance between its dual natures. That means that Force does not exist without Form, Light does not exist without Dark, Male does not exist without Female, Positive does not exist without Negative, etc. Energy has no channel, no boundary, without Matter. Ipso facto, neither aspect of the duality can be wrong – they are both right, correct, true to themselves. Life cannot exist without Death – the process of building cannot exist without the process of destruction.
Can we then call any part of this duality evil? No we cannot – both aspects are needed, are required. Both aspects are. So if the basic nature of the universe is by default, good - where does evil come in? What is truly evil but the denial of the true nature of the universe, and the imposition of that denial on our children?
The culturally-programmed, lazy-thinking person looks at duality and automatically concludes that the Form-Female-Negative-Destructive-Matter (includes ‘flesh’) side of the aspects equate with ‘evil’. But good and evil are subjective – they are human values. The universe does not recognize that any part of itself is ‘evil’ – that is for humans to do. And in so doing we denigrate what is necessary for existence. We cause a schizophrenic separation between ourselves and ‘God.’
If you insist on the lazy, slave-think viewpoint that God is an old man on a throne, and that there is actually a heaven and a hell, and that women are the next worse thing to the Devil – then all I can say to you is WAKE UP! Your continued, self-imposed blindness to reality is a cancer that is killing us all. You who insist on classifying necessary, intrinsic aspects of the universe as ‘evil’ are actually the ones imposing your short-sighted, warped, ‘evil’ viewpoint on humanity.
The female energy of the universe (whom the Indians refer to as Shakti) which we denigrate with the very language we speak, is every bit as required, necessary, honorable, and GOOD as the male energy which we revere.
Open your eyes, open your mind, open your heart. Be fearless and without desire. Seek the truth of things, without self-deceit, without the delusions of ego, and you will understand - you will attain SOPHIA.
